Temporal variations of large wading birds in the Point Calimere Wildlife Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu, India

Objectives: To assess the temporal variations of large wading birds in Point Calimere Wildlife Sanctuary and to suggest management recommendations for better visited sanctuary seasonally. Methods Statistical analysis: The population characteristic was carried out by employing a ‘direct count’ method. one-way analysis variance (ANOVA) performed understand impact various seasons on characteristics birds. Findings: In total, 13 species were observed. Among species, Black-headed Ibis Painted stork are Near Threatened category (IUCN, 2020). Greater Flamingos showed highest density than other observed from PCWLS. density, diversity richness relatively greater monsoon studied. varied significantly among months (P<0.001). Novelty applications : is declined when compared previous studies. study revealed that PCWLS required intensive assessment ecological factors of  managing waterbirds seasonally.
